The project consisted of seven exposed bolted Glulam trusses. The trusses are 51’-6” span scissor configuration with 8:12 roof pitch and 3:12 bottom chord pitch. They were designed with 6-3/4 x 18” chords and 6-3/4 x 12” webs, bolted with ¾” bolts and 4” diameter shear plates, with steel side plates both sides.
Each truss is designed to carry a 68,000 pound point load at the ridge, plus 290 PLF snow load along the top chords, resulting in chord forces of almost 130,000 pounds!
Built in 2013.

Full structural design of two, two-story houses on a narrow 7100 SF lot in Cypress, CA. The main house is 2220 SF and the second house is 1210 SF, plus two car garages for both units. The narrow site presented a challenge for shear wall designs in the Southern California seismic region. Part of the solution was the use of wooden Metal Plate Connected (MPC) portal garage opening frames for both houses. The MPC frames were designed, built and delivered by Trussed, Inc. of Perris, CA, substantially reducing both design and construction time for this portion of the project.
